GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:Staff Accountant will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial records for our company and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department per established Company policies and procedures.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES OF THE JOB:
Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, taxes, and other financial reports.
Develop and analyze reporting for business operations and budgets.
Perform audits, ensuring adherence to standard requirements.
Create new processes to improve financial efficiency.
Report analysis and findings to management team.
Prepares reports for management and divisional personnel on a timely basis.
Disseminates information to outside personnel as required.
Ensures that financial transactions are recorded on the Company's books in accordance with GAAP.
Safeguards the Company's assets.
Maintains confidentiality of accounting data.
Interacts with outside public and company personnel in a professional capacity as required.
Attends professional development programs as required or requested.
Recommends or develops cost-saving or time-saving ideas.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEneeded to perform job: Bachelors or Associates Degree in Accounting. Accounting experience a plus. Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook. Experience with Lotus 123 a plus. Strong working knowledge of computers and their application in accounting. AS400 experience a plus.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Experience with current computer accounting programs and reporting tools. Knowledge of accounting terminology and practices. Fundamental knowledge of GAAP. Ability to make decisions according to policies and procedures. Able to deal effectively with people and maintain effective working relationships with other employees. Ability to understand and carry out instructions. Accuracy and the ability to handle responsibility with limited supervision. Must be able to concentrate for long periods of time. Must be good at working with business systems and computers. Should possess high standard of integrity. Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills. Detail and deadline-oriented along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
ACCOUNTABILITIES: Responsible for timely and accurate completion of all assigned duties and schedules both individually and departmentally.

GENERAL: Office hours are 37 ½ hours per week. Due to work requirements, working in excess of regular work week may be required at times.
